Reclamation Coordinator

The Company

Our client is a Western Canadian based, growth-oriented oil and gas company engaged in the exploration for and acquisition, development and production of high quality oil and natural gas reserves in Alberta. The organization continues to develop its core assets and conduct exploration programs utilizing its large inventory of geological prospects.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Team Lead, Environment, the Reclamation Coordinator will be responsible for the development and maintenance of a liability management strategy and ensure that it is executed in a responsible, compliant, and efficient manner.

The scope of responsibilities and activities will include:

  • Coordinates reclamation activities and communicate effectively with several internal and external stakeholders (Surface Land, Mineral Land, Operations, reclamation consultants, First Nations representatives, private landowners, government officials, Finance, Engineering, etc.)
  • Reviews, interprets and advises on regulatory requirements and upcoming changes to reclamation processes and practices
  • Develops internal business processes to effectively manage and plan for timely reclamation activities
  • Develops annual budget requirements, tracks costs and creates and manages long-term AFE’s for reclamation
  • Provides guidance and training to less experienced staff; mentors Field Environmental Coordinator and junior staff
  • Develops and maintains the EMS to ensure compliance and proactive environmental stewardships specific to liability management
  • Supports the various business units and present metrics and goals to internal stakeholders
  • Assesses field operations and present liability results and opportunities for improvement
  • Implements and maintains reclamation specific database to track projects
  • Manages environmental service providers to realize efficiencies

The Individual

The preferred candidate profile would include the following skills, experience, credentials and personal attributes:

  • A minimum of five years of direct experience working in Oil & Gas industry and/or with an environmental consulting firm specializing in land reclamation
  • Bachelor’s degree or post-secondary technical diploma in Environmental Studies or related discipline
  • Broad experience and understanding of the Federal and Provincial (Western Canada) regulatory framework
  • Experience in critically reviewing Phase I, II & III environmental assessments
  • Project management experience and ability to execute tasks on time and on budget
  • An understanding of varying field duties and safe work practices
  • Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills
  • Strong computer skills, including exceptional proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
