Manager, Joint Ventures

Our client is a leading provider of integrated gathering and processing services for natural gas in Western Canada. 

The Opportunity

Our client is currently seeking an experienced Energy industry professional to join the organization in the role of Manager, Joint Ventures. This Calgary-based position reports to the Vice President, Business Development and will be responsible for the oversight and management of the joint ventures (JV) team, developing JV processes to maximize shareholder value through asset optimization and execution of corporate growth strategies. The ideal candidate will be an experienced manager with a collaborative and diplomatic approach to JV activities and a proven track record of negotiating and drafting complex JV agreements.

The key areas of responsibility will include:

  • Manage JV department resources to ensure effectively prioritization of issues and timely implementation of JV initiatives through staffing, systems and controls
  • Oversee and manage relationship and interaction with working interest owners and third party producers
  • Assist in complex agreement interpretation and drafting of ancillary documents
  • Work cross-functionally to facilitate effective JV strategies and deliverables on behalf of our stakeholders
  • Coordinate business development efforts with current customers related to infrastructure assets, long-term processing arrangements, facility optimization

The Individual

The desired candidate profile will include the following skills, experience, credentials and personal attributes:

  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in the Energy industry
  • Strong leadership skills are required along with excellent analytical and decision-making skills
  • Post-secondary degree in Commerce, Engineering or Business with MBA preferred
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the petroleum industry; midstream experience preferred
  • Active membership in the Petroleum Joint Venture Association
  • Extensive experience with CO&O agreements, joint venture contracts, process and accounting principles
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
